What is true scaling?
True scaling in Warhammer refers to modifying models—usually Space Marines—to make their proportions more realistic and imposing. Standard miniatures often have exaggerated, chunky features to fit the heroic scale of Warhammer’s aesthetic. True scaling adjusts these proportions, making the models taller and leaner, often reflecting the superhuman stature described in Warhammer lore. Hobbyists achieve this by kitbashing, sculpting, or using 3D-printed parts to enhance detail and correct scaling inconsistencies, resulting in models that look more natural and realistic on the tabletop.

“This Imperium is ours. We bled for it. We forged it in wrath and steel.”
One of the most rewarding parts of this project has been fusing the imagery of their former Legion into the model. The lineage of this design is unmistakable—its genetic legacy practically roars from the details. Subtlety? Not needed here.
By true-scaling the entire project, I unlocked the potential to pull from across the Games Workshop catalog, reshaping components through 3D printing to achieve the vision. The chest plate? A masterful blend of @forgesofzeon and Forge World parts, selected to convey that towering Astartes presence. At this scale, the opportunity for intricate detailing in the paintwork is immense—a bonus for someone whose eyes, let’s admit, need a little help these days!
Have you ventured into true-scaling your Marines? Ever felt the temptation? I’m already weighing up next year’s plans, and the dark prince’s whispers are growing louder…
