Avatar of Khaine
The Avatar of Khaine is an ancient deity, born of murder and the unquenchable lust for battle. A burning shard of Khaela Mensha Khaine, the Bloody-Handed God of the Eldar. Awakened for battle, he marches through enemy fire without breaking stride, destroying all before him with the Wailing Doom. The Avatar’s mere presence incites a merciless rage in the Asuryani around him, his fearsome aura eradicating fear or hesitation in favour of a nigh insatiable murderlust. In these moments, the Aeldari seems transformed into a vision of the glorious and terrible conquerors who once ruled the galaxy.

WHAT A MINIATURE! My god. This thing is just bursting with energy. The Avatar of Khaine is a seminal piece of lore in the 40K background and I was so happy to land a commission to paint one. The OSL is a combination of fluorescent paints and overlapping low-value purples. To give it a genuine magma effect magenta was used to shade the red, with oranges used to develop the upper mid tone.
I was conscious not to spread the colour scheme too thin – I’m a big fan of analogous colour schemes and wanted to keep to the red/orange side of the colour wheel. All the gems were painted with red-orange white the black portions were highlighted with a grey/ purple.
