Initial reports regarding the return of Bran Redmaw to the Ghorstang Reach were promptly dismissed as miscalculations.
The Reach had long been a lifeless void. Years prior, Hive Fleet Colossus tore through the sector, stripping every world of its population and organic material before vanishing into deep space. What remained held no strategic or economic value for the Imperium: orbital stations lay in ruined silence, manufactoria stood cold, and once-fertile agricultural planets were reduced to toxic, barren wastes and deserted settlements. In many areas, the lingering signs of life were so negligible that deploying even a single Imperial regiment could not be justified.
Deploying a major portion of his Great Company directly into the Reach, Bran Redmaw established staging zones among the ruins and began a systematic sweep across the dead systems. Supply routes were maintained by orbiting warships while Thunderhawks scouted ahead. Heavy armour was landed in quantities far exceeding what was typical for a region already thoroughly scoured by Tyranid forces.
The Wolf Guard were deployed into the most hazardous zones. They penetrated places inaccessible to standard infantry—navigating collapsed hab-blocks, subterranean manufactoria vaults, and the desolate shells of arcologies stripped bare by the Tyranid swarm. Protected by tactical terminator armour, the veterans pushed through unstable structures and hazardous environments, heavily armed to eliminate the occasional bio-creature still dormant beneath the surface.

Painting the Wolf Guard
To capture the essence of Bran Redmaw’s Wolf Guard Terminators, the color scheme was designed to evoke the bleak, desolate atmosphere of the dead worlds of Ghorstang, avoiding the look of pristine factory plate.
The primary armor color features a muted, cool blue-grey tone, highlighted with lighter grey-blue shades across the broad surfaces of the Terminator plate. Warm accents of rich leather, aged bone, and brass provide striking contrast, while deep red elements link the warriors directly to Redmaw’s personal heraldry and the mark of the Bloodied Hunter.
