Created under the ill-fated ‘Enfants Terriblé’ (or ‘Astartes Primus’) initiative—a program designed to accelerate Space Marine creation following the XVIth Legion’s subjugation of the Luna Witches—Xhârbydyss Selenaar began life as a Primus clone designated Ixvis. He would not enjoy the luxury of a name for nearly three centuries.
Xhârbdyss was logged across several Great Crusade theaters—specifically the Darrowmar, Gyros-Thravian, One-Forty-Four (144), and Aurelian Compliances—prior to his presence being recorded at the Isstvan atrocities, Molech, Beta-Garmon, and Terra. His exact rank and extent of involvement within the Luna Wolves and Sons of Horus remain obscure. Given his specialization in void combat, it is presumed he operated within a void assault core or a spear-tip assault cadre; however, lacking verified documentation beyond his creation records and roll-call logs at these pivotal junctures, such conclusions remain entirely speculative.
In the wake of the Horus Heresy, Xhârbydyss spent nearly a century serving under Gederphon Merisi, Lord of a sizable Sons of Horus splinter fleet, fleeing loyalist wrath. Merisi’s warband would plague the sector for barely three decades before thier Mechanicus allies turned on them, ousting the Sons of Horus from the Froge World. Upon his death, Gedephron would bequeath his Cthonian-pattern power claw, Misery, to Xhârbydyss – ‘may it bring you the same fortune it did me…’
Over the following decades, Xhârbydyss adopted the life of a reaver, plying his bloody trade against Imperial convoys, vulnerable outposts, and targets of opportunity while continually evading retribution from Scouring-era fleets.
Seeking refuge within the Eye of Terra, Xhârbydyss was soon swept into the ruthless political savagery of the Legion Wars and enslaved by a Slaaneshi warband. Though subsequently freed by a Word Bearers fleet en route to swear fealty to the Black Legion, he has never forgotten the cruelties suffered at the hands of his former captors.
A curiosity from a bygone era with a skill set honed precisely to the Warmaster’s intent, he rapidly rose through the ranks of the Black Legion. Following the death of Sephlion during the 13th Black Crusade, he was elevated to Lord of the Liberi Oculi – Children of the Eye
The Children of the Eye exhibit alpha strike capabilities unseen since the days of the Great Crusade. Specialising in void boarding actions and spear-tip operations, their doctrine focuses on bringing overwhelming force against vulnerable enemy sectors and executing decisive decapitation strikes against command structures. To support this mode of warfare, the Scions deploy elite veteran troops favoured with high-yield armaments—predominantly plasma and melta weaponry—and boast dedicated void specialists, high-intensity assault forces, and formidable Terminator retinues.
